Making Dreams Come True…with POINTS!

Since launching Let’s Get To The Point, travel has become a part of our everyday lives.  Not a day goes by where some part of it does not involve researching amazing destinations, exploring the best accommodations, and investigating exciting excursions. 

Everyone in our family has their own “bucket list” of travel dreams! So one of my great pleasures is making those dreams a reality – for my family and for others. 

COLORADO, it is!

In my January 2020 post about our “mini-trip” to Colorado, I shared that one of those dreams was getting back to Beaver Creek for a family ski trip.  So this past Christmas, it filled our hearts with joy to surprise the kids with a box filled with new goggles, helmets, ski pants, lift tickets and reservations at one of the most beautiful resorts we have ever seen . . . the Park Hyatt – Beaver Creek! 

Epic Pass for the WIN!

Actually, we presented them with an Epic Pass, which allowed us to choose any resort that was included with the pass.

Our initial thought was to ski at Keystone, but like most of our travel plans, they evolve, depending on which point hotels provide the greatest value. Also, Daddy Starbucks has grown accustom to living the life of luxury (I’m totally kidding, but he does love a NICE hotel)!!

THE FAMILY THAT SKIS TOGETHER . . . 

Planning this trip, I had to account for the reality that, while four of us are experienced skiers, two of our family had never even strapped on boots.  My challenge was planning a trip which included something which everyone could enjoy at our varying experience levels.  For Chandler, Braden, Landin and me, this trip would be a return to a familiar adventure. 

New to this sport

But for Daddy Starbucks and Kylie, this trip would be an introduction to a new sport – at a first class ski resort, at the height of winter, in one of the top snow sport regions of the US. 

Our mission: To see if we could truly become a family that skis together.  Oh, what an adventure!

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW

We selected February 2-6 because those dates worked best for our schedule and for some friends who were traveling with us.  What we could not have known was that God had quite a winter wonderland in store for us – 21” of fresh snow over our four days (29” for the whole valley), including the biggest single-day snowfall of the 20/21 season on February 4, the day of our snowmobiling adventure. 

For this post, I will be breaking our trip down into two parts – our first two days at the picturesque Hyatt Place in Keystone (one of our favorite spots in the area) followed by our second two days at the Park Hyatt Resort Beaver Creek.
