Making Dreams Come True…with POINTS!

Making Dreams Come True…with POINTS!

Since launching Let’s Get To The Point, travel has become a part of our everyday lives.  Not a day goes by where some part of it does not involve researching amazing destinations, exploring the best accommodations, and investigating exciting excursions.

Everyone in our family has their own “bucket list” of travel dreams! So one of my great pleasures is making those dreams a reality – for my family and for others.

COLORADO, it is!

In my January 2020 post about our “mini-trip” to Colorado, I shared that one of those dreams was getting back to Beaver Creek for a family ski trip.  So this past Christmas, it filled our hearts with joy to surprise the kids with a box filled with new goggles, helmets, ski pants, lift tickets and reservations at one of the most beautiful resorts we have ever seen . . . the Park Hyatt – Beaver Creek!

Epic Pass for the WIN!

Actually, we presented them with an Epic Pass, which allowed us to choose any resort that was included with the pass.

Epic Passes for the win!

Our initial thought was to ski at Keystone, but like most of our travel plans, they evolve, depending on which point hotels provide the greatest value. Also, Daddy Starbucks has grown accustom to living the life of luxury (I’m totally kidding, but he does love a NICE hotel)!!

THE FAMILY THAT SKIS TOGETHER . . .

Planning this trip, I had to account for the reality that, while four of us are experienced skiers, two of our family had never even strapped on boots.  My challenge was planning a trip which included something which everyone could enjoy at our varying experience levels.  For Chandler, Braden, Landin and me, this trip would be a return to a familiar adventure.

New to this sport

But for Daddy Starbucks and Kylie, this trip would be an introduction to a new sport – at a first class ski resort, at the height of winter, in one of the top snow sport regions of the US.

An early morning view out our window at the Hyatt Place Keystone – the first stop on our epic ski adventure!

Our mission: To see if we could truly become a family that skis together.  Oh, what an adventure!

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW

We selected February 2-6 because those dates worked best for our schedule and for some friends who were traveling with us.  What we could not have known was that God had quite a winter wonderland in store for us – 21” of fresh snow over our four days (29” for the whole valley), including the biggest single-day snowfall of the 20/21 season on February 4, the day of our snowmobiling adventure.

This was about an hour into 21″ of snow!!! It was absolutely INCREDIBLE!

For this post, I will be breaking our trip down into two parts – our first two days at the picturesque Hyatt Place in Keystone (one of our favorite spots in the area) followed by our second two days at the Park Hyatt Resort Beaver Creek.

A Sneak Peek

Enjoy a few photos here, then be sure to check the blog in a few days for more details on our family ski adventure.   And if you would like more information on how you can turn credit card points into amazing travel adventures, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m ALWAYS happy to help!

YOU can do this too!

Right now, there is an elevated sign up bonus (a whopping 100,000 points when you spend $4,000 in three months) on our all-time favorite travel card (and really the most important one to begin traveling for free). It’s called the Sapphire Preferred, by CHASE. I’d love to chat with you about how we travel to so may destinations using the money that we have to spend anyway on everyday expenses (utilities, gas, groceries, etc…). Click here to learn more:

The CHASE Sapphire Preferred is the MOST important credit card if you’d
like to travel for free!

    • Thank you Holly! We’re checking the boxes one kid at a time! Some of them have BIG dreams, like Austria, Germany, New Zealand and Australia!! We’ll get to them one country at a time. ☺️

  • I’m hoping to apply all of our accumulated points to the next trip and see how much I save. If the eligible hotels, etc. work out with our schedule, we could have a very inexpensive trip! Woohoo!!

    • Debbie, isn’t it the BEST? We’ll done! I’ll look forward to hearing your redemption stories!! Congratulations!!

  • It is great to travel to wonderful places with the family. It is even better when you can travel with points. Just seems to make it all very special when you travel with a discount. These pictures are wonderful. Snow is so beautiful but super scary to drive in. Stay safe and thanks for sharing.

  • Looks like a fun time in the snow was had by all!

    • Suzan, thank you. And I was thinking that I wouldn’t be able to handle the cold. Electric socks and gloves made all the adventures completely doable!!

Love your idea of everyone’s bucket list! We never went downhill skiing, but we will be experiencing this adventure this winter. We can’t wait.

    • Cecile, I hope you have a wonderful time – skiing is AMAZING!! And thanks for your kind words!

    • You’re so welcome Melissa! Thanks for stopping by!

  • Looks like a great time! My kids have never been skiing – it interferes directly with competitive dance season, and I’m always afraid they’ll get hurt right before a competition. I’m hoping to bring them to Big Snow, an indoor skill hill here in NJ, this year.

    • Danielle, I understand. Just be careful with artificial snow. And have a great time!

  • Cindy Moore says:
