WHAT? No vacation this past year? I can help….

While we were in Denver, CO, in November, on our fifth trip of 2019, we happened to hear a story on the morning news that said that people aren’t taking vacations because they’re having to charge them, and then taking over two years to pay them off.  For most, it’s just not worth it.

The facts:

Megan Leonhardt, of CNBC’s publication, “make it” reported that 60% will not take a vacation at all during a calendar year because they cannot afford it.  In fact, almost half, 44%, say that day-to-day bills are the biggest hurdle.   In another survey, it was reported that over half of Americans said that they wouldn’t be able to cover a $1,000 emergency. This struck a chord with me, as it wasn’t too long ago that this was MY FAMILY.

So, what changed?  Did we come into large sums of money?  Did we reduce our outflow in bills?  Actually, the answer to both of those questions is NO!

We learned that we could maximize our spending on the things that we were buying anyway by charging those items on the right credit card.
